Table for leveling a surface plate
Well, here's another of those projects that ran away with
itself. I plan to do some serious hand scraping in the
future, mostly redoing my Bridgeport. I have a very
accurate level, a Taylor Hobson Talyvel, with resolution
of .1 arc second. This is so sensitive that you can
use it for many jobs where a long precision straightedge
would normally be required. I can think of some tasks in
the rescraping of a Bridgeport where being able to use
the level to bring the top of a part into parallelism with
it's bottom could be the best approach.
So, I needed a table for the surface plate that allowed it to
be accurately leveled.
